Almost everyone has heard that “life doesn’t come with an instruction manual,” but as we age, there are so many things we wish we would have known when we were younger. Omaha Public Library in partnership with the student success and transition company LifeBound will offer a series of summer enrichment workshops for middle school students at W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St., to help them prepare for a successful future. “Dollars and sense: How to be smart about money” will be offered daily, July 16-20, 1-4 p.m. During this workshop, participants will learn ways to set smart financial goals, how to make a budget, why financial literacy is important and why they should start saving now. “Success in middle school: A transition road map” will be offered daily, July 23-27, 1-4 p.m. Students will learn how to take responsible risks, set healthy boundaries, handle relationships and create a mindset for success. Registered participants are expected to attend each day of the workshop. Participants will receive a free workbook relevant to the workshop they attend. Both workshops will be facilitated by LifeBound coach and Metropolitan Community College instructor Deb Holst. LifeBound's mission is to raise student success rates, reduce high school dropout rates, and eradicate the need for developmental education at the college level through holistic programs that develop success skills for students, educators and parents.
