Family-friendly band to perform at Omaha Public Library

Everyone is invited to attend a free outdoor concert featuring family-friendly band The String Beans. Join us at Saddlebrook Branch library and community center, 14850 Laurel Ave., on Friday, July 27, 7-9 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, friends and family. The concert will be followed by playing outdoor games and making s'mores. 

The String Beans were established in 2004, when brothers Curt and Randy Bright formed the friendliest family band in Nebraska. Their whacky on-stage antics and dance-tastic songs are the perfect entertainment for pre-school through elementary-aged audiences, as well as their parents and teachers. The String Beans music is a fun mix of rock, country, blues, pop, polka and even a little rap! The String Beans songs are all about the stuff kids love — dinosaurs, sports, animals, food, cartoons and just having fun. Some of the songs are even educational and teach youngsters about things like astronomy, nature, language and Nebraska history. The String Beans have released five all-original albums. Some of their most-requested songs are "Diggin' Dinosaurs," "Beans," "I Think I Need a Bath," "Hula Hoop" and "Right Here in Nebraska." This event is part of the Omaha Public Library Summer Reading Program. All ages are encouraged to read throughout the summer and track their progress online. Though reading offers its own rewards, there are many incentives to motivate participants to continue reading for fun!
